In an Ausbildung you’ll hear these words every day. Being on time (pünktlich) and calling in sick properly matter a lot in German workplaces.
Separable verbs
Many work verbs have a prefix that jumps to the end of the sentence: anfangen (to start) → Die Schicht fängt um 6 Uhr an. Others: aufhören (to stop), anrufen (to call), mitbringen (to bring along).
If you are sick, call your company before your shift starts, and from the 4th day (or earlier, if your contract says so) you need a doctor’s note (Krankmeldung).
