German levels
Levels follow the Common European Framework (CEFR). Employers and visas ask for a certificate at a level.
| Level | What you can do |
|---|---|
| A1 | Introduce yourself, ask and answer simple questions, understand everyday phrases. |
| A2 | Handle routine tasks and simple conversations about work, family, shopping and your area. |
| B1 | Deal with most situations at work and in daily life, describe experiences and give reasons. The usual level for an Ausbildung. |
| B2 | Follow complex conversations and texts and talk fluently with native speakers. Often needed for nursing and for studying. |
Most people need several months of regular study to reach B1. These lessons give you a strong start; a full course and an official exam get you the certificate.
