| sein (to be) | haben (to have) | arbeiten (to work) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| ich | bin | habe | arbeite |
| du | bist | hast | arbeitest |
| er / sie / es | ist | hat | arbeitet |
| wir | sind | haben | arbeiten |
| ihr | seid | habt | arbeitet |
| sie / Sie | sind | haben | arbeiten |
Regular verbs
Take the infinitive, drop -en, and add the ending: lernen → ich lerne, du lernst, er lernt, wir lernen, ihr lernt, sie lernen.
The verb comes second
In a normal sentence the verb is always the second element. If you start with something else, the subject moves after the verb.
The verb (lerne, wohne) stays in position 2.
